American Civil War Artillery
Heavy Artillery. Philip Katcher. Because of the length of the coastline of the U.S., American ordnance and engineers placed an emphasis on heavy artillery mounted in coastal defenses. The Union army organized its "Heavy Artillery" into separate regiments, while the Confederates did so only through informal association. This book details the development and usage of the big guns. 48 pages, 40 B&W photos and illustrations, 7 color plates, 7¼"x 9¾", softcover.

American Civil War Artillery
Field Artillery. Philip Katcher. Perhaps the most influential arm of either army in the prosecution of the American Civil War, the artillery of both sides grew to be highly professional organizations. In battle, the introduction of the 12-pdr. Napoleon, followed closely by rifled cannon, provided a range and power previously unknown on American soil. This book details this vital cog in the war-machine of both sides. 48 pages, 45 B&W photos and illustrations, 8 color plates, 7¼"x 9¾", softcover.

8-Inch Parrot Rifle on a Seacoast Barbette Carriage
History was made on August 22, 1863 when an 8-inch Parrott Rifle nicknamed the "Swamp Angel" dropped several shells into downtown Charleston, using a compass bearing on the steeple of St. Michaels Episcopal Church. It was the first rifle to use the technique of indirect fire. This 1:32 scale kit of the "Swamp Angel" includes the Parrott tube, the seacoast barbette carriage, three Parrott shells, and three Parrott bolts… over 40 metal and resin parts in all!

13-Inch Union Seacoast Mortar Kit
The 13" Union Seacoast Mortar saw action in almost every theater in the Civil War. This kit was produced from the original blueprints and comes complete with a collection of simulated iron shells. 1:32 scale.
