Battle of Fredericksburg books. The Battle of Fredericksburg December 11-15, 1862. On Dec. 12th, the Union Army crossed the Rappahannock on pontoon bridges laid the day before. On the 13th the Union Army mounted a series of frontal assaults on Southern positions Prospect Hill, and Marye’s Heights which resulted in huge casualties.
