Little Round Top Books

The rocky hill at the southern end of Cemetery Ridge is known as Little Round Top. Brigadier General Gouverneur K. Warren sees that this hill is unoccupied and sends an aide to have some troops moved to this key position. Colonel Strong Vincent led his men to Little Round Top and posted his regiments on the South side of the hill. Within minutes Vincent's men were rushed by 2 Alabama regiments. Vincent's left regiment, The 20th Maine led by Colonel Joshua Chamberlain, was running extremely low on ammunition and knew that another attack would destroy his line, Chamberlain decided to fix bayonets and the 20th Maine rushed down the slope catching 400 confederate prisoners.
